The Dark Knight Review

WHY SO SERIOUS?!

The Dark Knight stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Morgan Freeman.

Batman (Christian Bale), James Gordon (Gary Oldman) and the Gotham police have been doing a successful job at putting away a lot of criminals in Gotham. When suddenly, a criminal mastermind arises. He calls himself, The Joker (Heath Ledger). The Joker creates a new sense of chaos throughout the city, by killing people close to Batman and Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), the new district attorney. The Joker doesn’t have any rules, Batman has one and Joker intends to make him break that rule. Batman must learn what it truly means to be a hero, but can he stop The Joker before he destroys Gotham and the people he cares about?

Perfection! This film single handed turned me into a comic book and film geek. I remember going to the cinema to see it and thinking it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen and knowing that I had to find out more about comic books and films. Everything is perfect about this film. The cast is incredible and everyone puts in an amazing performance. Maggie Gllyenhaal easily steps in as Rachel Dawes and you don’t even really notice the difference.Heath Ledger is the most amazing performance in any Batman film I think, his performance as The Joker will go down in history and people will never ever get bored of seeing it. The Joker is obviously the most famous comic book villain of all time, and there must have been so much pressure on him to meet everyone’s high expectations and try and be different to Jack Nicholson’s Joker that we saw in 1989. The cinematography in this film is incredible, the opening Bank robbing scene was shot in IMAX and is such an incredible scene and is one of the best openings to a film of all time. The scoring again by Hans Zimmer is perfect and matches the film in everyway.

Overall, I rate The Dark Knight 10/10! This film is a complete must see for everyone living! I tried to think of something bad about it but I honestly couldn’t. The Dark Knight will go down in history as one of the best films ever made!
