Fear The Walking Dead Episode 1 Review

Spin-off TV Show to The Walking Dead.

Fear The Walking Dead stars Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey and Elizabeth Rodriguez.

Because The Walking Dead is one of the most popular shows on TV, Robert Kirkman has decided the world wants to see more “Walkers”. I liked The Walking Dead until the the last season and I feel the show is starting to get repetitive and quite boring. I was a bit skeptical going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The opening episode introduces us the Clark family, who will be are protagonists of the show. Both the parents work at a school and their children are both teenagers. One is a druggy and the other is a popular girl at school and you can tell they don’t always get on. This episode gave us a better insight into the world we are going to see. This show is set before the outbreak in Los Angeles. In the episode we see that the Walkers are not a big thing yet and there are only a few around. I liked the idea of this and it did work well in the show. However, by the end of the show the world is soon learning about the Walkers. I didn’t like this really, I would have liked to have spent a bit more time in the world before zombies and I would have liked to have seen perhaps the first ever outbreak. I would have liked to learn more about the virus actually started and what caused it.

Nick Clark (Frank Dillane) for me was the best part of the show. Nick is the druggy son and you can tell that he is the one that people won’t believe when he is telling them about zombies but he was a really enjoyable character and could be the Daryl of this show. We didn’t see much of Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey), the daughter but with a high school party coming soon from her, I am sure we will see a lot of Zombies then. Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) was the main focus and I feel like she could either become like the Carol of this group (Bad ass) or the Andrea (Annoying). Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) plays a step dad, who has his own son and the first shot we see of him, he is fixing a sink so we know he is going to be handy when the outbreak happens. He seemed quite calm on the show and I would like to see him become that really aggressive person and get his hands dirty.

Overall, I rate Fear The Walking Dead Episode 1 8/10! The show has a lot of potential and from the opening episode I think that it is going to be a good series.
