Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Review

Turtle power!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows stars Megan Fox, Stephen Amell, Will Arnett, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Stephen Farrelly, Gary Anthony Williams, Tyler Perry and Brian Tee.

Shredder is broken out of prison along with criminals, Bebop and Rocksteady, and he plans to take over the world again. This time he plans to open a portal to another dimension to let through an enemy that will help him take over the world. The 4 turtle brothers are the only people that can stop Shredder and the foot clan along with help from reporter, April O’Neil and new friend, Casey Jones.

The last time out we saw an okay film for the Turtles but focused perhaps too much on April O’Neil. This time out they did focus on the turtles more and it did help the film, we all watch the film to see the turtles. The chemistry among the turtles is brilliant and exactly what you want and the characters are spot on to what they know. The CGI looked really good the whole way through the film and has certainly improved since the first one in this new reboot. Megan Fox is given less screen time and feels more like a sidekick to the Turtles, she feels even less like proper April O’Neil that we have seen before. I was a big fan of Casey Jones in previous versions of the franchise and in this film he was very underused, they changed his story a bit and the fact that Stephen Amell was playing him was weird to me as I am a big Arrow fan so I just saw the Green Arrow but with a hockey stick. Shredder was another underused character and felt a lot less menacing than he did in the first film. Bebop and Rocksteady were enjoyable and really made the film feel more like a cartoon and added humour, particularly for children watching. The movie is 2 hours long and it flies by, the film could have done with being slightly longer perhaps a longer last action scene or to add more Casey Jones.

Also you will love the song they use for the credits. My favourite part of the whole film.

Overall, I rate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows 7/10! A thoroughly good time, a look forward to the next installment in the new TMNT franchise.
