You know his name!
Jason Bourne stars Matt Damon, Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Julia Stiles, Riz Ahmed, Vincent Cassel and Ato Essandoh.
Jason Bourne resurfaces as the CIA are starting a new programme with the aim to hunt him down. Now he remembers everything about his past, he is set on finding out more about his father’s death and hunting down the people responsible.
The Bourne trilogy are known as some of the best action films ever made, however I always found they were a bit too complicated at points to follow. I know that was a big positive for some people but it meant that I never loved the films as much as some other people. This time the film is less complicated and I enjoyed that, meaning this time I could just sit and enjoyed the action without having to put pieces together. Some of the best action films recently, such as John Wick, are pure action and I appreciate that as long as it is done well. There are a couple of really good stand out action films which were enjoyed and, like the previous films, it feels grounded in reality and doesn’t go too over the top. The performances by the majority of the cast were very good, Alicia Vikander is always a standout (despite her non convincing American Accent), Riz Ahmed also elevated the performances once he entered the film and I felt that Vincent Cassel made a very menacing antagonist for Jason Bourne. The only person who did not really deliver was Julia Stiles, in her scenes she always felt that she was slightly over the top but she is not in too much of the film. The film also has beautiful cinematography, something continued from the trilogy.
Overall, I rate Jason Bourne 8/10! This film does feel like a cash grab and I would be interested to see whether we get another installment in the franchise or not.
