After school. Parking lot. It’s on.
Fist Fight stars Charlie Day, Ice Cube, Tracy Morgan, Jillian Bell, Dean Norris, Christina Hendricks and Kumail Nanjani.
When Mr Campbell gets Mr Strickland fired, he challenges the Campbell to a fight after school. Campbell will do anything to get out of this fight, he clearly can not win. He also has a meeting with the principal to attend, his daughters talent show and his wife is expecting.
Positives. With a basic premise like this I am glad they didn’t stretch it out for longer than it should be. They keep it to about an hour and a half which is perfect for the film. There are some really funny moments. The daughters talent show is hilarious, one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time and the fight is funny too, other than those two things there are odd jokes throughout the movie that land and others that don’t at all.
Negatives. The first half of the film is pretty weak. A lot of jokes didn’t work and you could tell they were trying to hard. However the film gradually improves as it goes on. Because of the premise you are just waiting for the end that you know is going to come, so you just wish that it had got there sooner and cut out all of the unfunny moments, seeing how he wants to escape. Also, this teacher is the worst. He barely spent anytime in his class.
A few good laughs throughout the film, it’s a shame it didn’t lead to better.
