Get Out Review

Get Out stars Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Catherine Keener, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Marcus Henderson and Betty Gabriel.

A white woman takes her black boyfriend to meet her parents. When they arrive, he quickly works out that there is something off about the place they live, the only black people around work for the family and they are very strange. He decides he has to leave but will he be allowed to do that?

Positives. I thought the cast was fantastic. I am a big fan of Daniel Kaluuya, he was fantastic in the episode of Black Mirror that he was in (If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it) and he is perfect for the role once again in this. I really would love to see him given more of a chance in bigger films, which  is why I am glad he will be in Marvel’s Black Panther to be released next year, but I think he is definitely strong enough to lead his own franchise. The majority of the cast play creepy characters and they do that really well, so even though everything seems normal you are left wondering because everything is too normal to start with. The tension slowly builds and it works and feels like a true horror film.

Negatives. I don’t have any. I just wish it was longer because I was really enjoying it. The pacing is good, it keeps you interested and the time flies while you are watching it. People will be talking about this film for a long time, because of the racial aspect to it but when you watch the film you realise it isn’t actually racist, but I will say no more than that to so I don’t spoil the film, because if you love horror, if you love film, you have to see this film!

Horror is really upping its game and we are finally get amazing horror films again.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
