Free Fire Review

All guns. No control.

Free Fire stars Cillian Murphy, Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley, Enzo Cilenti, Sam Riley, Michael Smiley, Jack Reynor, Babou Ceesay and Noah Taylor.

In 1978 Boston, a group buys some guns off some illegal arms dealers. When thinks start to go wrong, a shootout ensues and every has to fight for their lives.

Positives. I wasn’t expecting too much from the film, the trailers didn’t sell me on the film. However the film is hilarious, a lot of really funny moments, that had the whole audience laughing. The comedy isn’t for everyone but if it is for you then this movie is a lot of fun. The biggest standout was Armie Hammer and Sharlto Copley, they both bring the most laughs in the film, particularly Sharlto, with his South African character.

Negatives. If you are looking for a big, deep story then you will not enjoy this. Apart from the first couple of minutes, the whole film is set in a warehouse and the shootout goes on for the entire film. The story is simple but the film is more about poking fun at action films and focuses more on the comedy.

A simple and funny film, a refreshing film for everyone who has the right sense of humour.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Also got to see a preview of Ghost in the Shell, it looks visually amazing, very excited to see it tomorrow.
