Snatched Review

This is the closest they’ve been in years.

Snatched stars Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn, Ike Barinholtz, Tom Bateman, Oscar Jaenada and Bashir Salahuddin.

After she is dumped, Emily needs someone to go on holiday with. When she runs out of options she makes her mum go with her. But as they seek an adventurous holiday, they are kidnapped where their bond and differences are put to the test as they must escape their captors and the Amazonian jungle.

Positives. The two big standouts in this film were Goldie Hawn and Ike Barinholtz. Ike plays Amy Schumer’s brother in the film and is a weird nerd, who still lives at home. He provided a lot of laughs and made a nice break from Amy Schumer’s style of comedy. It really helped make the film appeal to a wider audience. Goldie Hawn also impressed. We don’t get to see her in many films anymore so it was refreshing to see someone different and she has great chemistry with Amy Schumer, and they could easily have actually been a mother and daughter.

Negatives. I am not a massive fan of Amy Schumer. I found that a lot of the jokes in the film were easy and predictable. A lot of the big jokes were also spoilt in the trailer for the film, so if you do want to see it do not watch the trailer. The main thing was that it was too predictable for me. There were moments were I laughed but the sense of humour they went for also isn’t for me.

A good time for people who really like Amy Schumer and her comedy, but not for me.

Rating: 2 out of 5.
