Baby Driver Review

All you need is one killer track.

Baby Driver stars Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm, Lily James, Eiza Gonzalez, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey and Jon Bernthal.

Baby is a young getaway driver, who suffers from Tinnitus so uses music to drown out the ringing and affect his skill. After being made to work for a crime boss, Baby is looking to get out as soon as possible so he can live his life. But the team need him for one last job.

I’m not going to talk about positives and negatives, because I can’t think of anything bad about this film. The action is phenomenal, we have already seen Fast and Furious this year, and with that franchise going towards unrealistic scenes in cars but Baby Driver has great car chases that go on and on filled with great moments. The other action pieces out of cars are also great and look great, like all Edgar Wright films.

The performances are really good, in my opinion it is the best Ansel Elgort has been and shows that he can lead a film along side a great mix of big stars like Jamie Foxx and Kevin Spacey, as well as newer actors also who also impressed Lily James and Eiza Gonzalez.

The music is fantastic and is used in a genius way throughout the film (especially Tequila in my favourite scene). You get the typical Edgar Wright humour but it isn’t as prevalent as the Cornetto trilogy, and takes a back seat (car pun) to the action.

My favourite film of the year so far, but with Spider-man Homecoming next week and War for the Planet of the Apes the week after, it has some tough competition.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
